"Never Let Me Go" is a poignant love story, adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro's bestselling, Booker Prize short listed novel of the same name. Kathy, Tommy and Ruth live in a world and a time that feel familiar to us, but they are not quite like anything we know. They spend their childhood at Hailsham, a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. When they leave the shelter of the school and the terrible truth of their fate is revealed to them, they must also confront the deep feelings of love, jealousy and betrayal that threaten to pull them apart.

Enganging and disturbing.

Ishiguro's dystopian novel has been beautifully transmuted to screen by video film-maker Mark Romanek. The harrowing feel of the novel has been kept intact and the whole effect of a final numbing of sensations is achieved at the end of the movie. The mystery around the Hailsham is kept intact by means of economical and intelligent script adapted from the novel. The blunt,event-less life at Hailsham,the shrouded knowledge of an unsure future is portrayed by the impassive expressions of the children and the monochrome uniforms. The atmosphere at Hailsham is shown in a somewhat sepia tone,almost as a premonitory aspect. The children at Hilsham are reared as any breed of animals whose lives are...
